The Kwara Government on Wed said it stopped score programmes inwards the state's Colleges of Education because the institutions were losing focus on the piece of work for their establishment.
Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed-Lade, the acre Commissioner for Tertiary Institutions, stated this inwards an interview amongst the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) inwards Ilorin.
NAN recalls that the acre authorities had at the kickoff of the 2012/2013 academic session stopped the 3 acre Colleges of Education from admitting students into their Sandwich too Regular Degree Programmes.
The commissioner, who admitted that it was non inwards the involvement of the acre to halt the programmes, observed that the institutions had derailed from the purposes for which they were established.
"Actually, it is non inwards the involvement of the acre to cancel the score programmes to a greater extent than peculiarly the Sandwich programme inwards our Colleges of Education.
"But inwards this situation, yous are given a specific assignment too inwards the procedure yous are abandoning the assignment, the responsibility, too getting into closed to other expanse where yous are non supposed to at the expense of the people yous are to serve.
"That truly informed the stoppage of the score awarding programme too Sandwich courses at the Colleges of Education," he said.
Mohammed-Lade said the institutions had forgotten that they were "established to create teachers for basic schools; that is main too junior secondary schools."
"A province of affairs where a College of Education gets involved inwards score programmes, thereby abandoning the responsibleness for which it was established becomes a work for the state.
"The acre truly felt too the authorities felt plenty is enough. As for the NCE holders produced, a lot of them cannot fifty-fifty defend their certificates. My brother, is that non a disgrace," the commissioner added.
" On no occupation organisation human relationship should Colleges of Education convey anything to scope amongst score programmes because they were basically established to laurels Nigerian Certificate inwards Education (NCE)," He added.
